Mahler's 5th

Tonight and tomorrow, Rainier Symphony will perform Mahler's Symphony No. 5.

Some fast facts; the score is 333 pages and cost us $2,000 to rent.  It is a gargantuan symphony and will take over an hour to get through.  It requires a lot of stamina both physically and emotionally.  I've listened to recordings of this piece countless times this month, in order to get to know it better.  There are five movements.  My favorite is the fourth - it has been known to make me cry because it stirs up precious memories.

If you're interested, here's a link so you can have a listen.  Otherwise, if you're in town, I invite you to come hear it live.  We'll be selling tickets at the box office before each concert.  For more information visit  www.rainiersymphony.org
