Lovely sunny Cannes was a nice treat from cloudy, drizzly Paris - though we did like that too! We felt like we extended summer an extra two weeks. Even though we're both fall folks and love boots, scarves and bundling up, we were very grateful for these extra two weeks and soaked up all the sunshine we could - and even still, we are the palest couple on the beach! ;)
We decided before coming to France that we would ignore our food allergies. Eating off my diet started to take its toll a few days after we arrived in Cannes. Some days were worse than others. Sometimes it meant that Joe would have to go grocery shopping without me - which impressed me because first of all, grocery shopping is not fun and second, doing anything alone in a foreign country in a language you don't speak is scary! But his trips were successful and he enjoyed doing it so bless him! I guess the upside to all this was that it helped me slow down and it forced me to stay home and take it easy - usually, I'm used to having a million things on my schedule - thankfully, our home in Cannes was a lovely place to take refuge.
Between fatigue, belly aches and the occasional headache, we did a lot of exploring around Cannes. The first place we visited was the open air flea market which takes place every Monday. One of our favorite places in Cannes was the older part of the city - it's up on a hill and looks out over the city center and the marina. We did some shopping up and down the famous Rue d'Antibes and of course, frequented the beach as often as we could. ;)
